THE TOP 4 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT DENTAL INSURANCE

  • What is being withheld from your paycheck every 2 weeks to have your dental benefits? Check the bottom of your paycheck stub the next time you get paid.
  • Most patients on average pay $100-$120 a month. So, $50-$60 a month is withheld from your paycheck. This equals $1200-$1440 a year to be part of a plan that has a maximum benefit amount of $1000-$1500. You are paying in more than you are receiving.
  • Dental coverage typically covers major dental work (crowns, dentures) at 50% and periodontal at 70%, and then you must pay the remaining amount.
  • Most dental benefit plans do not cover implants, veneers, or other cosmetic treatments.
  • National Association of Dental Plans: The association estimates that more than 50% of patients do not hit their plan’s annual maximum.

What does this mean to you? We find that most of our valued patients pay more than what they receive in dental benefits than they receive.

In addition, you are out of pocket amount for the (20%, 30%, 40%, 50%) that your plan does not cover. When you don’t use all your benefits, the insurance company does not gift that amount back to you or roll it over to the next year.

As an alternative to insurance, you can join a membership club. For many patients, they provide a better value and cost less. And unlike many traditional insurance plans, you get what you pay for, and what you see is what you get.
